The ASR Innovation Team

Privately-owned by Dario P. Manfredi and Savia Giarraffa, Glen Head, NY-based Aviation Safety Resources has a history of aviation safety-related inventions using technologically-proven elements beginning with the patented TriChute Safe Landing System which was successfully tested in 1967. Supporting the company’s owners is the ASR Innovation Team made up of experts in avionics engineering and design, flight analysis, ballistics and parachute design, FAA certification, start-up financing and business development.



 
DARIO P. MANFREDI of Glen Head, NY, is President of ASR. He is an accomplished financial executive who, along with his brother and sister, inherited the patent estate for the life-saving ASR TriChute Landing System. The former Senior Auditor and Senior Accountant in Controller’s Department of Empire Savings Bank in New York, and Fortune 500 J.P. Stevens and Company, formed Aviation Safety Resources in 2000 to commercialize the system. Manfredi has been actively involved in designing ASR technology while also leading the effort to obtain and upgrade the1991 patent. Currently, he leads the ASR Innovation Team assembled to fast-track FAA certification. He is a graduate of St. John’s University in Queens, NY, where he also earned his MBA.

 GEORGE GALLOWAY, a commercial pilot and expert in parachute design, manufacturing and drop testing, founded Precision Aerodynamics in 1981. He is an FAA certified Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representative and Master Parachute Rigger. As a member of the US Parachute Association, he has held numerous leadership positions over 35 years. He also participated as a member of various FAA committees including technical, rigging and parachute certification standards. Galloway is an experienced parachutist and holds an expert parachutist rating from FAI/United States Parachute Association with more than 3,000 parachute jumps since 1972.

 THOMAS MORGAN, Chief Engineer and FAA certification consultant, complements the ASR team with Air Force experience advancing FAA certification for military commercial derivative aircraft such as the Japanese E-767 Airborne Warning and Control Aircraft (767-200ER), E-4A (747-200), C-32 (757-200) and C-37 (Gulfstream IV) and many others. He has Boeing and Seattle ACO certification training. An FAA Designated Engineering Representative with appointments in Structures and Management, Morgan also has worked with other teams to achieve FAA certification for system safety and cargo bay flammability. He retired from the Air Force in Oct 2009, and founded Morgan Aviation Services LLC where he now provides certification support for Civil and Public Aircraft to military and industry clients. (http://MorganAviationServices.com) Morgan earned a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from Parks College of Aeronautical Technology in Illinois. He also completed courses in Airplane Flight Dynamics, Open and Closed Loop and FAA Functions Leading to Certification from the University of Kansas.

BOB LA FRANCE served as Vice President of Programs and Business Development at Scot Incorporated, a pyrotechnic company located in Downers Grove, IL., which focuses on pyrotechnic components and systems for aircraft, tactical missiles, launch vehicles and spacecraft. He has over 25 years experience in ballistics, crew escape systems and survival equipment. Most recently, LaFrance was the Military Business Manger for Goodrich’s Specialty Seating Division in Colorado Springs, CO, providing fixed and ejection seats and systems to Lockheed, Boeing, US Air Force and US Navy. He also has worked at Pacific Scientific and has held Commercial Pilot Certification since 1979 with more than 1,400 hours as pilot in command.
