Our goal is to improve quality, reduce complexity and lower costs. We will do this by maintaining our lean corporate structure, applying new tools and technologies, and focusing on simplification in all that we do.
We are using these lighter, stronger and lower volume materials to develop a series of new products that will disrupt current markets for sport/experimental aircraft, light sport aircraft (LSA), general aviation (GA) aircraft, electric propulsion and unmanned aerial systems (UAS or UAV). Additionally, ASR products are, on average, about 10 percent lower cost than comparable competitive products.
Parachute Recovery Systems for Sport, Ultralight & Experimental Aircraft
Aviation Safety Resources chose EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019 as the platform to launch a new portfolio of aviation safety products aimed at the sport, ultralight and experimental market. ASR Soteria whole-aircraft emergency recovery parachute systems are designed to safely bring down an entire aircraft and its occupants in the event of an in-air emergency. Designed for aircraft up to 1,800 pounds, these next-generation systems are lighter weight and have less volume than other similar products on the market today.
One of the key features of Soteria is that our product line has been designed to lower the cost of ownership. In addition to a lower purchase price, Soteria also offers a 15-year repack cycle versus the competitor's 6-year cycle, which significantly lowers the total cost of ownership. This lower cost of ownership will make ASR parachute recovery systems more affordable and within the reach of many more aircraft owners.
ASR’s Soteria products will be available for order online and offered in all major global markets through the company’s direct sales team. We will begin taking orders on September 1, 2019 with product delivery expected before the end of the year.

The process of creating a completely new category of personal transportation, along with a completely new set of operational guidelines, is complex and there are many barriers that must be overcome. Chief among them is the perception by the public and regulators that these aerial vehicles, flying at low altitudes above congested urban areas, will be not be safe. But what level of reliability is acceptable?
Today, more than 140 eVTOL companies are hard at work designing, building and testing redundant systems that address the issue of crash prevention. But crash mitigation also must be fully addressed - especially as the technology heads toward optionally-piloted vehicles. These aircraft designers need ASR solutions today. No matter which design is successful and where the technology is headed, the aerial vehicles of the future will require a recovery system.
Aviation Safety Resources has developed an innovative solution to the problem of vertical take-off and landing with a system that will recover the aircraft and protect its occupants from an altitude as low as 100 feet off the ground. The Aviation Safety Resources patent-pending Xtreme Rapid Deployment (XRD) vehicle recovery system is designed to get a fully-opened parachute over the aircraft in the shortest time possible using a two-stage deployment in combination with a retro-rocket.
The performance produced by this concept indicates recovery under zero speed conditions at altitudes around 100-feet above ground level (AGL). When coupled with other technologies, such as stroking seats, the entire operational envelop can be covered.
Compared to standard whole aircraft recovery systems on the market today, which require as much as 900-feet of altitude loss to fill the parachute canopy, the ASR XRD is the only real solution for VTOL. ASR's XRD canopy design is lighter weight, lower volume, higher strength and more efficient than existing recovery systems. The XRD has been prototyped and first-level testing has been successful.
